What other people think
This is my all time favorite saying. “What other people think of me is none of my business.” Wayne Dyer
Whenever we judge someone else or have an opinion of them it is always through our own filters. We all have our own red hot buttons and when someone purposely or accidentally pushes one of those buttons we are going to respond negatively to that person. It is easy to see in extreme cases, but subtle everyday occurrences are more difficult to spot.
However, we cannot help but filter everything we see, hear or experience through filters of our past experiences. So when you are feeling judged or put down by someone else then know that their opinion has less to do with you than it does with the past experiences the person has had.
So I guess the big take away here is – don’t take it personally. You will be much happier and more forgiving if you take this lesson on-board. There is always something to be hurt or offended by if we chose to be. I’d rather shrug and let it go and focus on what makes me happy.
As a closing note, that doesn’t mean you need to put up with someone who is constantly putting you down. If you find that sort of negativity in your life you owe it to yourself to get that person out of your
life.
